Decatur Racers Take Two Stock AWD Podiums at RallyCross Nationals
North Alabama had two drivers on the Stock All Wheel Drive podium at the 2026 SCCA RallyCross National Championship. SCCA’s October 20 results report lists Charles Wright of Decatur, Alabama, in second and Shelton Wright, also of Decatur, in third.
The Stock AWD results
Jan Gerber of Ralston, Nebraska, won the class in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo. Charles finished 4.250 seconds behind the winner, with Shelton another 0.746 seconds back.
A championship decided across every run
The championship took place October 15–18 at the Camp Verde Equestrian Center in Arizona. Competitors completed 13 runs across two course areas. As SCCA explains, RallyCross combines run times rather than simply taking each driver’s fastest attempt.
Why we are following it
Results like these connect the national motorsports calendar with the racers in our own region. For readers curious about competing beyond the dragstrip, this is a useful introduction to a discipline where consistency across the entire event matters.
